What is the Kitchen Throwdown?

Are you the grab and go cook or a foodie?

Whichever lifestyle you identify with, the Kitchen Throwdown is where you just may see your ideal kitchen.

On Monday, October 19 at the PGI Innovation Center in Norcross, Georgia, six supplier teams comprising cabinets, appliances, sinks, faucets, countertops, flooring, lighting and backsplash, will converge upon our 52,000 sq. ft. warehouse to design and build unique kitchen vignettes to address the needs and concerns of a distinct kitchen lifestyle. This event is just one key piece in our Kitchens of the Future project that aims to develop new kitchen designs and elements to support the creation of differentiated, consumer preferred kitchens.

“This event jumpstarts our new lifestyle kitchen designs and it is exciting to witness our supplier partners working in partnership to address the needs of consumers,” says Diahann Young, Director of Production Innovation.

The Kitchen Throwdown is going to be an entertaining challenge. Based on these presentations, the PulteGroup team can further explore consumer behaviors, lifestyles, needs and wants, and brainstorm how a kitchen can be better designed to satisfy them. This process is better known as the Ideation, which will be held immediately after the Kitchen Throwdown, and includes a cross-functional team as well as Certified Kitchen & Bath Designers. Consumers will also provide feedback on the kitchen vignettes that will allow us to better design a kitchen that can come to market – targeted sometime in the first half of 2016.
